I wanted to shoot out a post so I don't languish in blogging non-productivity.

First off, one of the things I've been watching is the ongoing "elections" in Zimbabwe. I say "elections" because by all rights the elections should have been over and done with weeks ago. Unfortunately for all freedom loving people in Zimbabwe and the world, Mugabe is still up to his old tricks of killing, intimidation, and general dictatorship-like behavior. There is some question as to whether or not he is actually running the country at this point or has been relegated to the post of Military high command yes-man. Here is a link to an article I saw posted on David Coltart's blog. I would say "enjoy," but that's a little hard to do.

For all those political and 2nd Amendment buffs among us here is an article that I found off the USCCA weekly e-mail report (which is free, by the way; sign up). Again, a great reason to resist the liberal tide that thinks the average American is a knuckle-dragging, uneducated, "bitter" boob who checks their brain at the door.

And a little L. Reyman family news. We just got home from a trip to P-town over the weekend. Beth helped to organize a baby shower for some close friends of ours, Matt "the Rev" & Mrs. "Rev" who are due in a few months. All the best to them, our prayers & thoughts are with you guys.

We got to catch up with quite a few folks while we were in Portland. It's always slightly hectic and draining however. It's good to be home and be looking forward to sleeping in our own bed.

We're getting used to living in a small town. I think we often make it out to be worse than it actually is here in Crescent City. There is quite a cross-section of people here and it is very apparent that that is the case. It's probably a result of so few people living here, you can't hide in the crowds. Anyhow, there are some great people here and we're forming some great friendships and meeting quite a few people.

We've plugged into the Calvary Chapel of the Redwoods. You can find the link to the website in one of the sidebars here. Hopefully it won't be long before we can start podcasts of some of the teaching that's going on. Being part of the worship ministry and having a little bit of knowledge about the subject, that project has sort of fallen into my lap. Along with that I'm sharing in the worship-leading responsibilities, playing guitar and bass, and generally helping out where I can in the ministry. I've also been asked to co-lead a 18-30s bible study on Friday nights with two other great guys. This coming Friday will be the third week and the first that I will teach.

Beth is still trying to figure out where she fits and how to plug into church. She's loving her job however and most of the people she works with. She's been put in a position to learn a lot and be able to use her skills. She just started and 11-11 AM to PM shift which is a switch from the night shift she was working. It's nice to have her home in bed every night. I sleep a lot better.

My business is coming along slowly but surely. My licensing is finally all behind me for the moment. I can do business in all the different areas that the company offers products in. Primerica Financial Services is who I'm working with, by the way. I'm a financial coach and loving being able to help people protect their families financially and build a strong financial house for themselves. My goal is to have it up and running by the end of the year so that we can go back to living on my income solely and free up Beth. We're hoping to start trying for kids late this year or early next and that would give her the freedom to not have to work if she chooses not to, or be able to negotiate a schedule that works for us.

Well, that's kind of a quick family update that's been long overdue. For those reading this, you might keep my parents in prayer this week as they've taken some friends back to Zim. That's a little worrying after reading some of the articles such as the one above.
